I think many of us forget the blessings we have. We wonder around and forget who we are. We aimlessly live each day just to get by, stay up late and sleep in. We wait for opportunity to strike us instead of going out and searching for it on our own. We live an ungrateful life, always complaining…Always forgetting the true origins of our DNA.
In Matthew 4, the spirit lead Jesus out into the desert for many days without giving him food or water. The devil appeared and began to temp Jesus. Matthew 4:8-10 says:
“Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give to you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “away from me, Satan! For it is written: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” -Matthew 4:8-10
Whether Satan could give Jesus all he promised him is a debatable point, but it still didn’t matter. Jesus was destined to have all those kingdoms in the future forevermore anyways, but not through a deal with the devil. Are we willing to cut corners to get to our dreams, or are we willing to surrender to God and trust Him to provide us with His destiny for our life? We so often times are so desperate for a relationship, large amounts of money, or the next greatest thing that we are willing to morally cut corners because we want something so bad. However, God is never one for impatience and instant gratification; He is a just God and will make sure His will is accomplished. So, are you willing to gratify your desires in the here and now or wait for God to provide them to you in his time?
