Charlie Sheen, Aubie, You, and I…

So, what does Charlie Sheen, Aubie, You, and I all have in common? Well, the answer is short and simple: sin. In light of it being Easter weekend, I decided to take the time and make what I taught at Generation this past Tuesday into a blog post….

Isaiah 53:1-6 “1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.”

Many of us are expecting to see the Savior, but we don’t know when we see him because we are expecting a certain appearance. All my life I could tell you all the stories, songs, scriptures= I believed the message, however- there was a disparity between what I believed and the life I was living my teenage life because there was no difference in the way I lived my life than the way my friends lived their life. “He was despised and we esteemed him not” this is a vey common way you say that you believe him, but you do not esteem him. The reality is: If you do not esteem him, you do not truly believe in him. (Esteem: Value, put in rightful place, live for, respect). If you do not esteem the savior, you do not believe the savior- You don’t know him.

A lot of people think they believe in Him because they intellectually accept what happened. A lot of you went to VBS and got cookies and said you need him because one day everybody will see what you do on a big screen and you got so nervous at age 8. Do you treasure him? Does he mean more to you than anything else? If he doesn’t, then you don’t esteem him.

Many of you are face to face with the savior, but you are sleeping through it. You’ve been walking around in a spiritual sleep walk, wondering through your life and you know it’s not right. I don’t want you to sleep through the most meaningful human experience. “They did not know what to say to Him”: so many people are there in your walk with God, you’ve been spiritually sleeping, you’ve never truly started a relationship with God, and He’s screaming at you trying to get your attention. It’s time for you to wake up, you may have a form of religion and knowledge, but you have never embraced the joy of the spirit.Have you ever let God down so many times that you don’t know what to say? You have drifted so far and you want to have the joy of Jesus and nothing is going right in your life with Christ, but you just don’t know what to say?Just trust God, here’s what not to say to him: don’t say, I promise I will do better because no you wont. Jesus died on the cross because he knew you can’t keep your promise.

Jesus expects infinitely worse from us than we do of ourselves, that’s why he had to go and die for ALL our sins.

-Do you esteem him by living him with your whole heart? Has he changed you? Has he given you a second chance? Has he brought you something? Do you only reach out to him when you’re in trouble or when it’s culturally acceptable? You either accept him or reject him? You either look at Jesus or you hide your face in shame
