We all want to have friends, be well liked, and have a great reputation. After all, it is our reputation that we work our entire life to build and uphold, hoping that it might still be alive once we die.
However, we cannot expense God at hoping to improve our reputation and make a mockery of His word for our gain.
Godvertsing: The use of quotes and bible verses over social media
I am not saying there is anything wrong with posting a bible verse or theologian quote as your status or tweet. That’s great.
But when it becomes an art of trying to divert attention of peoples thoughts about you and you post one of the “top 10 most popular bible verses” and get upset when nobody “likes” your status, you have a problem.
Our God’s reputation cannot be imitated or even manipulated because only He is Sovereign, only He is perfect, and only He has the power to make the ocean calm and the wind still.
Our social media is a way to connect and encourage, not build up ourselves and our own reputation. Why? Because our faith can never be about us because it’s all about Him and what He did for us.
Stop wasting time googling bible verses that you think people would like and start showing God in your real life than your virtual one. There is a world that’s hurting and longing for Christ’s love.
Be the difference because He is the difference in your life.
