More Than The Beginning

Genesis chapter 1 has more insight into our life than the surface level of seeing God create the Earth and here’s why…

We’re all familiar with the passage Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”, but there is something more to this that we can relate to our everyday life by looking at the verses after it. Just stay with me and I promise it will make sense.

(Genesis 1:2-5) “2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”

Here’s my point: without God we are formless and empty. We have no purpose, we feel so empty inside whenever we seek our own will and desires. We feel empty inside after the fun of our sin has died out and we realized we are worse off than when we started. We have no direction, we are formless.

Like earth, we began as formless and dark, but God wants to light up our life. God took earth, something formless and empty, and made it into a beautiful creation by adding light. Without Christ, we are living in darkness and sin but that isn’t the plan. Sin isn’t the final destination for our life. Jesus died to cover our sins. God wants to separate the light from the darkness in our life, but are you willing to let Him do it?

God isn’t done with you, even though you might think He is- He never is finished with you, always wanting to add to your life. You may be living your life in defeat thinking that you’re too old to make a difference, too old to learn something new, or for God to use you…You’re not. If God was finished with you and your life, I can promise you that you would be dead and in heaven. IF you are alive on this Earth, you’re purpose is not complete, your task is still unfinished. Think about all that God put into creating the earth.

God took six days to create the earth when He could have finished it in the blink of an eye. Why? God spent time to perfect every detail of earth, much like He wants you to learn the lessons for your life and take them to your heart. God invested time in giving everything a purpose, it was a process to His purpose. God has a process for your life to reveal the purpose to you, it will not come all at once or over a certain period of time. Wait on God and let Him present you with the things you need, allow His process to be worked out in your life and do not rush anything. If God is finished with you, He will step out of your life and call you to heaven, much like He rested from Earth on the seventh day:  Genesis 2:1-3 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”

I know a lot of this may be a stretch for your to grasp, but I am looking for a fresh new way for you to understand your life from the bible.

So here’s my challenge: Are you still living an empty life or are you going to let your life be filled with light from God? Are you looking ahead in your life too much or are you trusting God’s process to unveil the purpose for your life and let Him add the things you need when he’s ready?

You + The World = ?

May 2, 2011 Comments Off on You + The World = ?

You as a human being have the potential to be either be of 2 things: a world changer or world changed. The decision is yours, so You + The World =???

We constantly envy people that have impact on our lives, trust the ones that are ahead of us, and look to the people on camera to dictate our mood for the day. We look at news reports to tell us what’s going on in the world, to inform us where we should spend our money, or what’s wrong with society. Well, I will tell you a reoccurring theme that sums up every broadcast and nightly special, something that will never change: the world is engulfed in sin and needs Christ. There you go, you don’t need to ever turn on the TV for the rest of your life because that sentence will encompass every single news report.

You have 1 chance on Earth, whether it be for 14 years, 25 years, 50 years, or 101– you have one shot to change this world. However, are you going to be a world changer and show the world what it needs? Or are you going to let the world dictate your views, your fears, your respect, and your attention and be changed? It’s plain and simple, each and every person reading this blog has the power to be a world changer. YES, YOU have the power to be a world changer, to make a lasting effect that will go down in the history books. Why? You have Jesus inside of you. Jesus was a world changer, Jesus conquered death, Jesus performed miracles, Jesus changed the entire world whether or not they all realize it. You have the power of Jesus inside of you as a Christian; therefore, you have the power to be a world changer.

Stop letting the voice of the enemy inside of you tell you you’re not good enough, that you don’t have the educational, spiritual, or physique to be the thing God has given you the vision you to be. Stop asking for others approvals about what they think about your vision. Stop questioning whether or not you have the time or money to do such a thing. Stop saying that people would judge you. Stop telling yourself you’re not good enough at public speaking or writing to put yourself out there. You will never need the permission or go ahead from anyone but God to go out and do something to further the kingdom. If it’s a God given vision/calling, He will align the people in your life to pay for it, to arrange it, to make it happen. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” -2 Timothy 1:7

Be assured that God give you power to be the person you need to be, to strengthen the areas that you’re not good at. Depend on Him, let him build you into a better public speaker, let Him bring the finances together, let Him give you the people you need to encourage you, let Him bring that special someone into your life. You can try all you want, but you cannot get around destiny. Your destiny is to be a world changer for the kingdom, God wants to turn you from a nobody into a somebody, all you have to do is let him. Stop fighting it, get on your knees and let him take control. He will never fail you and will arm you will nothing more and nothing less than you need. He will meet your every need to change this world! Don’t be changed by the world, be a world changer!

“And Jesus said unto them … , “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to younder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.”
Romans 1:17

“Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed”
Mark 6:51

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
