Wavelength

Throughout life we have our ups and down, but our greatest danger lies in our “ups” and not our “downs”…You just don’t know it yet.

When I look at successful points in my life, I often reflect on how I reacted during the phase and right after it, not exactly what I accomplished. For so many of us, God has gifted us with times in our life that are amplified as a long wavelength of success. However, we also have our low points as well, but if we aren’t care we will miss out on something very important:

Rather than seeing that our down points are our only true downpoints, there is a side to the high points that you probably overlook quite often- I know I do. That point is how you embrace and treat others during your time of success. God doesn’t want to use your success to make you feel happy about yourself, but He wants to give you success to ultimately bring Him glory through it all.

For many of us, we feel like we are entitled to living in the lime-light, or having our moments of glory- but we’re not. We feel like we have had such a rough life and it’s finally our turn to bask in the glory of the moment and live like we are dying. However, if you lose your humbleness and sight of God in those moments of glory, you’re wavelength is going to drop really low and you’ll go spiraling back down again.

Think about it like this: All the successful people you know had to go through a major trial or season of difficulty to get where they are now, but you wonder why they just seem to have such a perfect life now. An excellent example of this is many pastors or ministry leaders such as Stephen Furtick and Perry Noble. But understand this, the reason that their wavelength is continually growing is because of the fact that they haven’t lost sight of God in this glory of their ministry. Meaning, when things have gone their way and they have had continual success, they haven’t changed their perception of their life because of the environment around them. Pastor Furtick still prays the same prayer before every sermon he does now that he did three years ago.

Moreover, your greatest opportunities in life also come at your greatest hidden risk. If you’re tired of living a life full of up and down characterisitics, remember that Christ is #1 in your life no matter your environment. Whether you’re living in a 1500sq ft. house or a 15,000sq ft. house treat God the same way and you will see your blessings continual to grow. Be humble in all things and show an appreciation for the God that loves you and wants to give you everything you need, but only if you seek him first at all times.

So, my challenge for you today is this: Are you a different person (attitude, behavior, lifestyle) when you are having success in your life or are you still fearing God and respecting others regardless of your environment? God is a just God and will rip anything you put above Him right out from under you. I promise. He wants you to have these things and be blessed in your life, so that people would look at you because of who you are and you can reflect your wavelength up to Heaven and not your self.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,” -Matthew 6:19

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” -2 peter 3:9

“When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. …” -John 17:1-26
