“13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” -1 Corinthians 10:13
As I reflected on the short, yet sweet 19 years of my life today I came to this conclusion: God never put me through something that He wasn’t sitting on the other end waiting for me. Whether it was a traumatic break-up that meant more to me than it ever should have, a family crisis, a death in the family, a difficult living circumstance, or a burden that someone close to me had to endure. He was always waiting.
1 Corinthians 10:13 describes God as never allowing you to go through something more than you can stand, but really it’s more than He can withstand for you. God will allow you to go through a difficult time in your life; whether it’s a financial difficulty, a body image issue, a family crisis, or many other things. Remember the last sentence “When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure”. Don’t be afraid to look up in your situation and look for a way out because it’s right there.
I think so often times we tend to blame ourselves for a bad situation- we tell ourselves that if we would have been living better this “bad thing” would have never happened. Listen to the truth: God is loving and a caring God that accepts you for as you are, not for who you think you should be. There is no standard of good deed or desire from Him to wear makeup, God wants you to respond and look to Him right where you are, no matter the situation.
Do not live in condemnation because Jesus conquered condemnation and death, so that you would be able to always have a way out in times of trouble.
There is no reason to hide what you’re going through because He’s waiting for you to turn to Him. There is no shame or guilt, but only the opportunity to find an end to your hurt and pain- give it to God.
God is waiting for you right now, exactly where you are.
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. -1 Cor 10:13
Sometimes in life, we let all the lights and sounds distract us from our goals. For some of us, it might not be literal lights and sounds. It might be the idea of being the CEO of your company or living in a huge house with a big family. Point being, what does any of that have to do with furthering our faith?
Sure, the sound of president of xyz corporation or fantasizing about having someone tell you “wow, you look so good” might be great, but so what? It sounds great, but doesn’t make you any happier or a stronger christian.
Behind our greatest outfits, attractive bodies, huge bank statements, fast cars, big houses, designer bags, and oakley sunglasses is a hurting, lonely person. Behind everything in their life that you wish you had is someone who is so far from God and the farthest from happiness. Can money buy happiness? For a season, but in the end it leaves you even worse than you were before.
So, what does matter?
The fact that you embrace the love you are given every single day, the way you love on the person that paid the ultimate price for you to escape eternal suffering, what kind of witness you reflect to each and every person everyday, the words you use to build others up.
Who cares if you aren’t on a magazine cover or eating $100 meals, it isn’t going to serve you any good in eternity anyways. You don’t need a perfect body, large bank account, or certain color of skin to be empowered by God to change the entire world in which you live in. You have a voice, you have the ability to effect every person that you see today for the kingdom of heaven.
Don’t get caught up in chasing after all the lights and sounds of this world because once you finally catch up to them you will realize it is a dead end- emptiness and sadness.
Chase something that will give you more than happiness than any dollar amount could buy you…The satisfaction that God is looking down at you smiling saying “Well done, my good and faithful servant”
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin…” -Matthew 6:24-34

**Please read this entire post, I will make sense of it all at the end**
Everyday I wakeup wishing that I had someone to wake up to. I wake up thinking how nice it must be to have someone that might actually care about who I am for the way that I am. I wake up and instantly plan how much time I am going to spend at the gym because I am unsatisfied with the way I look everyday I wake up.
I check my bank account stressing about the year ahead, just wondering if I am going to have enough money to get by this year. I hurry off to work, always hoping for someone trying to drop their shift, so that I can make more money.
I go about my day watching all the pretty people walk by, wishing I was one of them- lusting with my eyes. Wondering what it would be like to have a significant other in my life. Missing the ability to hug and hold hands with someone, knowing they feel the same way about me as I do about them.
I think about all the times I have messed up in my life and get shivers thinking about it, hoping that God could forgive me for what I’ve done. Always fighting my thoughts and images of the past as they haunt the present and future of my day.
I live off the high of the thought of thinking that maybe I can meet someone that would like me for who I am tomorrow or that maybe I would get a raise at my job the next day. Maybe I could start eating healthy tomorrow and lose a few pounds at the end of the week.
I think I know what I want to do when I “grow up”, but I am not sure. I stress about having to pay future bills and wondering if I am still going to be single at age 30.
I hope to turn my grades around this semester, but know I never want to stay up for hours wasting my day in a book in the library. I really want good grades, but don’t know if I can make them. I stress.
Can you relate to me?
Aside from everything that I do, I am human. Aside from the fact that thousands of people read this blog, I mess up everyday. Even though I am writing a book and leading a university towards Christ, I sin.
We put people on pedestals and lower ourselves, we think that just because people do great things mean they have it all together and are living this celebrity life-style. We say we could only dream of being somebody as great as they are- you can be.
Even though every single one of those things attacks me everyday I live my life, I know God is going to use you and I. Even though you may struggle with even more than I do, God has a even bigger calling for your life. I am 19 and I struggle with those things and much more, but still have an awesome calling on my life.
If you’re struggling, you’re right where you need to be in your life. God is going to test you before He uses you. God wants to make sure that you can fully rely on Him before He gives you everything you want. Hang in there, you’re only human.
Exposing your weaknesses allows others to see the God inside you. Don’t be afraid to admit that you struggle, we all do. That’s why Paul wrote Romans 8. The more I make myself vulnerable, the more God is seen in me.
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. -Romans 8:18-19

I think many of us forget the blessings we have. We wonder around and forget who we are. We aimlessly live each day just to get by, stay up late and sleep in. We wait for opportunity to strike us instead of going out and searching for it on our own. We live an ungrateful life, always complaining…Always forgetting the true origins of our DNA.
In Matthew 4, the spirit lead Jesus out into the desert for many days without giving him food or water. The devil appeared and began to temp Jesus. Matthew 4:8-10 says:
“Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give to you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “away from me, Satan! For it is written: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” -Matthew 4:8-10
Whether Satan could give Jesus all he promised him is a debatable point, but it still didn’t matter. Jesus was destined to have all those kingdoms in the future forevermore anyways, but not through a deal with the devil. Are we willing to cut corners to get to our dreams, or are we willing to surrender to God and trust Him to provide us with His destiny for our life? We so often times are so desperate for a relationship, large amounts of money, or the next greatest thing that we are willing to morally cut corners because we want something so bad. However, God is never one for impatience and instant gratification; He is a just God and will make sure His will is accomplished. So, are you willing to gratify your desires in the here and now or wait for God to provide them to you in his time?
