11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. -Genesis 7:11-12
There are times in our life when we feel like we’re useless due to our age or the season of our life we are in. We see everyone else around us being innovative and being involved while we barely find ways to be creative with the meals we feed ourselves everyday.
Can you imagine what Noah felt like? The bible tells us that Noah was around 600 years old when God finally called him to be innovative and use the ark to save animal and human race.
So what’s the point?
Don’t let your definition of life define your limits. Just because you’re getting too old to traditionally have a job doesn’t mean you can’t be effective for God.
We don’t know much about Noah, except that Genesis tells us that he was right in the eyes of God and he feared God. Meaning, Noah simply served God faithfully and feared him for hundreds and hundreds of years before God used him.
Sometimes God is going to call you into a season to worship Him and trust Him before He’s going to use you. This season could be days, weeks, months, or even years. Know this, God has a special plan for you to be used to further the kingdom. God has given each and everyone of us a unique plan for our life to use the gifts He has given us.
But remember, even though Noah wasn’t used by God for hundreds of years Noah was still faithful to God in that period of nothingness and useless non-significance. Isn’t it interesting that the man responsible for starting up the entire world over again doesn’t have any details about his life in the bible? God doesn’t define your ability to make an impact by your popularity.
The world had become so evil that God had to wipe off the entire human race, except His faithful servant Noah. Hold fast to the truths of your faith and the truths of the bible. Worship God when no one else does, pray to Him, love Him, and seek Him first even when nobody else does. God wants to honor your love for him with with an innovative ark; a chance to make a God sized impact on this world.

**NOTE: I asked a very special friend of mine to write this for yall and I am very proud of her! Please read this, it’s really great**
I guess you could say I have always been a little boy crazy… I’m sure girls out there will agree in that sometimes it is easier to be friends with guys than it is with girls! But when it comes down to it girls, there is so much beauty in being a woman in love with the Lord.
Boys, don’t think that because I’m addressing girls that it doesn’t apply to you… this is what you should be looking for in your girlfriend and one day wife!
Here’s a little background info to preface: I recently went through the break up with my boyfriend, and quite honestly my closest friend from the last 3 years. The reason we decided to end our relationship was this: we both need to be pursuing our personal relationship with the Lord rather than our personal relationship with each other. Up until now, I never realized that I needed to be single for my personal relationship with the Lord to grow. I always identified myself with whomever I was dating, rather than identifying myself with the Lord…
I just bought a book called Lady in Waiting by Jackie Kendal and Debby Jones, and have been using it to help figure out my identity as a single; it has been life-changing. I have really begun to see what the Lord is wanting me to see and realize in my life right now! And whenever i say single, I am referring to an unmarried individual; dating status makes no difference here.
1. Fulfillment for a Christian woman begins with the Lordship of Christ in every area of her life.
⁃ One of the hardest things to recognize is that all of your efforts towards fulfillment, joy, happiness (etc) may quite possibly be wrong. Feeling fulfilled means to feel complete in your life. And the only person that can bring true and lasting “completeness” or fulfillment is Jesus Christ. Have you always felt like your life will pull together when you have a husband, kids, and that cute little dog you shove in your purse? I have always dreamed about that… However, an unmarried girl (or boy) should not waste time on wishing for the “chaos” of a family. When you let the Lord rule in every area of your single life- thoughts, actions, desires, hopes, dreams, expectations, sorrows- then will you experience the happiness HE gives. The joy HE gives. the love HE gives. The satisfaction HE gives. The fulfillment HE gives.
2. Be diligent to use your single (unmarried) time wisely.
⁃ A single man or woman has more time, and ability to follow the call of the Lord than a married person does. Think about it, if you want to become a missionary to Africa one summer, raise money and go! If you were married, you would have to raise the money for you and your spouse, not to mention finding a home there etc.
Ephesians 5:15-17 ” Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” The Lord wants us to use our time wisely, make the most of every opportunity, and to serve Him without grumbling!A single man or woman can be involved in the Lord’s work on a level that a married individual gives up on their wedding day.
3. Find a Ministry and GET INVOLVED!
⁃ I recently wrote this in a journal:
⁃ I want to figure out where the Lord wants me to be, where He wants me to go, what He wants me to do. I’m tired of sitting on my butt doing nothing, and hoping something will fall in my path… I want to figure out what kind of ministry the Lord wants me in, because according to 1 Cor 15:58,when I go into it wholeheartedly-it will be wholly worth it.
Do you have your life on hold until you find someone to hold?
Fall in love with Jesus first, HE Is your ultimate “Mr. Right”…. and until that sinks in, your earthly “Mr. Right” will just be every other guy.
May 4, 2011 Comments Off on Looking ahead?
One of the biggest problems I face is looking too far ahead. For many of us, we look ahead to the joy of having children, to the day when we will be debt free, to getting our promotion, to retirement, to having a happy relationship, or to finally figuring out what we want to do when we “grow up”.
A time will come when you will see a movie, read a book, or look at a photo and yearn for that to be you. Sometimes, our wants and desires consume us beyond what we realize. We think we could be so happy if we were at that point in our life, that everything would be ok. Here’s the thing, God has such an awesome plan for you. God wrote a special story line for you filled with ups and down, struggles, rewards, and joy – just for your life and you alone, it’s even separate and different than mine.
Yes, having a vision for your life is good and great. However, if you get too caught up in all the lights and sounds of life you are going to miss out on the plans God has for you. Before you know it, you will be turning 40 and wondering where all those years went. Well, they flew by you because you were always looking ahead to the next greatest moment in your life. If you can learn to be patient and live in the present, you will find so much more out of your life.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.-Matthew 6:34
I think for so many of us, we wish we could just go into a coma for a few hours, days, maybe even years and let all the tough times bypass us and wake up with everything going smooth. Here’s the thing, God wants you to go through hard times, difficult relationships, or a troubling circumstance to truly learn what it means to rely on Him for your strength and guidance. If we had the power to control time, we wouldn’t even worry about professing a life of Christ.
So, my challenge is this: are you living a life yearning for what’s to come or are you living each day asking God to reveal to you what the vision is for the day and not 10 years down the road? Each and every day you wake up, God has something special He wants you to accomplish. When the moment occurs that you stop worrying about tomorrow and start focusing on today, you will find such a great reward for living each day. God wants to be something beautiful inside you before He makes your life beautiful. Stop waiting for the miracle in your life because God wants you to be the miracle in someone else’s. God will make everything beautiful in HIS time, not OURS.
“Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD.”
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.”
